Postpartum Depression

anxiety and sleep

does anyone else have serious trouble sleeping b/c of PPA? I mean, like maybe 1 hour of sleep a night, laying down to take a nap and never falling asleep.....

I am going to start a prescription for resterol (SP?) tonight, I'm just so scared it won't work. I'm a walking zombie and I can't take care of my son....

What did you do that helped with sleep?

Re: anxiety and sleep

  • Zopiclone.

Do something relaxing before bed: read, cup of tea. No TV or no computer 1 hour before bed. When lying in bed, focus on breathing in and out...shutting your mind off from other things.

Once I'm done my last refill of Zopiclone, I'm going to try a prescription antihistamine now that I am sleeping better than I was a few months ago. I can't remember the name though.

  • i'm on a really low dose of nortriptylene for sleep, it really helps me get back to sleep between feedings.
  • Hi

I just wanted to say I am going through the same thing. I did not expect the anxiety or the inabilty to sleep. I started out going sleeping not at all, and in the last two nights I'm up to one hour to two hours at a time. I have tried antihistimines and ambien to no avail. Today I will try an ativan while my husband watches my son.   I hope you feel better soon.

  • I had the same exact issue and was falling apart.  On top of that, I can't take any kind of sleep aid.  They give me crazy side effects.  So I take melatonin and anxiety meds, and am doing better.  GL!
