Bleeding diaper rash!!! Help!

Just changed DD diaper and she is really really red in the crack with some tiny flat bumps and a few bleed slightly (like pin pricks) when I wiped and she cried when wiped.  I use Burt Bees cream or Triple paste and have  also been using an antifungal cream since it turned red yesterday morning.

What else should I try???  I know to air her out a bit, any other suggestions?

TIA

Re: Bleeding diaper rash!!! Help!

  • we have always just used desitin and it almost always works really well for us.

i know some girls on here have some good recipes for a bad rashes too tho...

  • Loading the player...
  • The oatmeal bath always works really well with us.  You might want to call your pedi and see if they can suggest something better, especially since it's bleeding a little.
  • I'd let her go without a diaper as long as possible...lay her on something you're ok with her going potty on and seriously like for an hour or two let her go.  bath her gentle soap/wash cloth to get it clean and then apply diaper cream.  My pedi's concoction is equal parts of aquaphor and triple paste mixed with 1/2 part of clotrimozal cream.  Slather it on generously and then put on the diaper.  Repeat at each diaper change and especially overnight.

     Good luck!

  • Worth a call to your pedi. When DD had horrid diaper rash, they wrote us prescription for a compound treatment. It cleared things up quick!

  • A+D Diaper Rash Ointment clears anything up and fast for DD.
  • Corn starch works great for drying up rashes, also when you give a bath, put baking soda in the bath. It also dries up rashes.
  • When Evie's rashes open up, she uses an antibiotic cream so they don't become infected.   Its worth a call to the pedi.

Otherwise, for bad rashes, we use Burt's Bees and in the tub I put some baking soda.     Giver her lots of naked time.

  • We used Desitin, we were also BIG on letting her be naked as much as possible whenever she had a rash and it always healed very quickly.

  • Baking soda bath, lotramin & 1% cortisone cream mixed together spread over the rash. Naked time is good too. We have been battling nasty diaper rash for a long time and have a compounded mixture that is an rx from the ped. I would call them. Definitely the lotramin & 1% in the meantime. I hope it heals quickly. OH also when she poops rinse her in the tub DO NOT WIPE. It's a PITA but help it heal and doesn't hurt as much.
