Swim class with 2 kids... HELP!

I had originally planned to do a mommy and me class with Grey while Elle was in her own class. Last week grey and I just watched and Elle and today we tried doing both classes at once. I was super bummed that I missed watching her swim. Should I just suck it up... Or do back to back classes and hope that she will be patient to wait while DS does his class with me? Dh works so it isn't an option to have him help.

Hmmm...they didn't make me go in the water with either kid.  My two were in the same class.

But to answer your question, I can't imagine M sitting there patiently while O was in his swim class...
  • I'd probably skip it with the baby for now or try to reschedule for a time when DH could keep DD.  There's NO WAY my child would sit patiently for a lesson while I was in the water with his brother and I would think the instructors/swim school would have a problem with an unattended preschooler near water.  Your DD might actually be benefitting/learning from the classes -- your DS would not be.  It's purely entertainment for him.  So I would just make DD's class the priority if you want to be there to see her lesson.

Exactly this...I had the same dilemma, and decided DS #2 would have to wait.  I wanted to see DS #1 swim, and I couldn't have left him unattended during DS #2's lesson.  One way to solve it (if it had been really important to me) would have been to actually join the YMCA where the lessons were...then I could have used childcare for each of their downtimes.  But next summer I'll be going back to the same private instructor we used this summer (after we did the YMCA lessons)....parents can't watch those, anyway, so they'll each have their own lesson.  DS was swimming from the first day with her, she is awesome!

  • I guess I am feeling super guilty... DD has done gymnastics, dance, swim. DS hadn't done a single class and he LOVES to swim!

Can you do private lessons? I am running into exactly the same problem with Ava and Ella and I decided to just pay a little extra and do private ones. I can go into the pool with them and the instructor I talked to tonight said that we would essentially tag team the girls in the pool so one of us was always with one child.
