PPD and breastfeeding question

What are you taking while breastfeeding? I am on Lexapro now, but I am going to try re-lactation and would like to research different options before I go to the Dr or even attempt re-lactation.

I'm on the generic of Zoloft, Sertraline.  I believe that Zoloft is the safest SSRI for breastfeeding.  Very little to none of Zoloft gets into breastmilk.  Check out kellymom.com for great information regarding everything breastfeeding!  Good luck with re-lactation!

I am on Sertraline (Zoloft) as well, and it's my understanding that it is the safest SSRI to use while breastfeeding. A lot of research was conducted on Zoloft and breastfeeding by Emory University.  I started at 25mg, then 50mg, then jumped to 100mg while in the psychiatric hospital. I didn't start to feel any relief until I was treated in the hospital and jumped to 100mg. The psychiatrist at Emory told me that Zoloft can treat depression, anxiety, and OCD, all of which I am suffering with.  The psychiatrist at the hospital wanted me to try Cymbalta, but the doc at Emory said it isn't proven to treat OCD, and you cannot nurse while taking it either!
