Beta #2 . . . did not double :(

Just got the call on beta #2.

Went from 417 to 692.

Doc says it's in the appropriate range, he's not worried. 

 But of course, I am freaking out.

I'm sorry that you're stressing. Fingers crossed for you for good news with your next beta. From what I've read, though, it sounds like it is within a good range even though it didn't double.

I'm sorry you are worried . Were they 48 hours apart? Don't they say it can take up to 72 hours to double? I'm not sure I haven't had an IVF/IUI but if your Doc says its fine I'd go with that! When's your next beta?

I'm glad the doctor's happy, but I hope it keeps skyrocketing for your peace of mind.

Any chance having it done at a different lab skews the results?

I know its much easier said than done but all is not lost!!  Your MD doesn't think you should worry.  I am so sorry that you have to deal with the stress.  Sending positive vibes your way!!

I'm sorry you're stressing about it.  I did the same thing when I was in your shoes.  But in my case it worked out okay.  Hang in there!

That is frustrating but it is good that your doctor is positive.

I agree with PPs.  I thought they look for a doubling time of 48-72 hours.  Also, I've heard that using different labs can cause differences in beta results.  When I had my 2nd pregnancy, my OB made me go to the hospital to have my first beta b/c my follow up beta was to be on thanksgiving and I my OBs office would be closed so I would have to have it done at the hospital for beta 2.  They said that to get accurate results you should use the same lab.

it takes 48-72 hours to double! I totally understand how nervewracking it is, but you're still totally in the game! if your dr. is happy, take that as a good sign.

I'm sorry it's worrying you!  I'm sure that is so stressful!  But I'm going to cross everything I can and hope that you get a GREAT rise with the next beta and go on to have a H&H 9 months and a healthy baby!

Try not to stress too much about it. Just think, right now you are pregnant and if your doctor isn't too worried you shouldn't be either. 

I'm sorry you didn't get a more concrete number. Are you doing a 3rd beta?

Beta #3 is Thursday. 

It was at a different lab and was pretty close, if not before 48 hrs on the dot, so I'm hoping that's part of it... ?

They actually called and said that "everything's looking good.  Going to start some new meds.... " I had to ask what the number was and they said they were happy that it went up 66% and was in the normal range, but still.... I hate grey areas, I just don't do "not knowing" well (which has made IVF terribly anxiety-inducing) but I know stressing won't help, so thanks for the encouragement.  I'm taking your advice and going to let it go and be positive.

 I hope you don't mind me lurking here. I know how frustrating it can be, but hang in there. My first 3 betas didn't double even within the 72 hours. Of course I was freaking out for the whole week. Someone told me that theirs also did not double until they got about the 5000 - 6000 range, and that proved right for me too... it skyrocketed to 6299 on the fourth one! Little did we know at the time we were having twins too!

That being said, TRY to think positive for that LO. They don't call it "beta hell" for nothing. Good luck!!!

That fact that it went up is good.  It doesn't necessarily have to double.  I was told it should go up about 60%, which yours did and then some.  Try not to wory (I know easier said than done).  GL

Doubling time should be 48-72 hours, so if your doctor is happy then I wouldn't worry about doubling at all!

You can plug your beta times and numbers into betabase.info to get your doubling time.

Try not to worry too much hon

First congrats on the BFP!!  That is awesome news in itself.  I won't tell ya not to worry since i know the feeling - i'm stressed while waiting for a 2nd round of beta (Tomorrow AM) and U/S (Thurs/Fri) to make sure things are still moving along... stinks that IF makes us so paranoid that we can't just enjoy the ride like most..  Best of luck at your next beta - i hope you get awesome numbers!
