I'm looking for more info on flip diapers. Do any of you ladies use them on a daily basis? These really appeal to me since the covers can be reused and you can either use the fabric inserts or disposable ones.
Thanks for all your comments about cloth diapers the other week - I used to have all these crazy ideas about CDs and now that I've done a little research, I'm thinking of converting.
I know DH probably won't want to spend more than about $200 or so to change over which is why I'm thinking of the Flip Diapers...are there any other options you'd recommend? I was speaking to MrsChristmas yesterday and she also mentioned the brand Nubunz - does anyone have any experience with those?
TIA!
Re: Thinking of converting to the dark side - does anyone use Flip Diapers?
DO IT!!!
HsArtTeach uses them, maybe she'll chime in. You might want to check out how much they have discounted the Bum Genius 3.0s. They just released the 4.0s this afternoon and they have the 3.0s on clearance. The website keeps crashing though.
I think they are buy 4 (or 5); get 1 free
MMT is correcto - BG 3.0's are buy 5, get 1 free.
More than half our stash is made up of NuBunz and we like them a lot. The first round we ordered way back when was to my liking but not anything I gushed about, but they've made some improvements and my newest batch are some of my fave diapers.
And you cannot beat the price for a OS pocket dipe (that I have found).

Sorry it took so long to chime in. I've been on vaca with touch and go interwebs.
Anywho...I use flips exclusively. I use the organic inserts. I read the other post about the insert bunching up and the poo getting all over the cover. We had this happen occasionally for a little while (poo getting on the cover, but the insert did not bunch up in the back), but it was when his poo was a more peanut butter consistency. I found that the bunching he gets is right in his crotch..his legs do come together there after all--and it only gathers in when it is wet. This has not affected the poo getting on the cover. Now the majority of his poos (even with day after day of yogurt) are solid and they plop right off. L is a mover and a shaker. I also don't tuck the insert under the back flap. I guess I don't expect to use the same shell all day. We have several shells (covers) that we rotate 2 or 3 during the day. I have one ready to make changing faster; then I put the used insert in the pail, wipe out the cover, and let it air out until the next change. Rarely do I have poo get on the cover anymore.
I love the flips. I have not had any problems with them. I use the organic inserts like I said. I have not tried any other diaper so I can't compare. These worked for us, so I felt no need to try anything else. I did a review in my son's blog. Here is the link. This is a link to my cost breakdown. I spent more than I had wanted to because L developed a rash from the microsuede, so we had to replace those inserts with organic ones.
L goes to daycare, and they use the flips for me. I was at tiny bird organic baby before my vacation and I saw some A-I-2 that had a snap insert...I want to check them out, I can't remember the name, but they were more than I could spend.
Please ask me any questions about the diapers.
ETA: sorry about the duplicate post...my bad. I also wanted to add that I noticed that your LO is older, so the mushy poo thing probably isn't an issue like the other poster with the 6 mos old who is going through the consistency change. Again, I am really happy with the flips.
