My LO wants to nurse often and gets real irritable if I don't let her. She won't drink anything than BM also. I've tried water, diluted apple and grape juice, and pedilyte. She loves squash and sweet potatoes but doesn't like apples, pears, and bananas. It seems to me if she's going to have anything "sweet: she just wants bm. Anyone else have this issue?
Re: EBF - Please Help!
No the fruits consistancy is so thin already I didn't want to add BM. The Sweet Potatoes I do add some just because it's so thick if I don't. But I didn't add anything to the squash and she loved it.
I kno BFing is suppose to be good for the babies, but if they get that attached to it it can't be good thing, right? My hubby wants me to stop. He's like she's over six months now but she won't drink anything else.
How long has she tried baby foods? It took my DD a while to really like fruits and some veggies. I read somewhere that you should have them "try it" up to like 20 times. Otherwise, you may get a picky eater on your hands. My DH is SUPER picky, so that worries me.
Will she eat rice cereal or oatmeal?
I haven't tried rice cereal. She already goes a couple days between BM so I didn't want to constipate her with rice cereal. Maybe I'm crazy.
She isn't to much of a fan of oatmel either. She eats it better than the fruit. I've tried combining cereal with fruit and she just looks at me like I'm giving her expired food or something. She's stressing me out. I've always heard that babies like the fruits better than veggies.
I think babies just like to give their mommas stress! My DD is boycotting her BM. So I have the exact opposite problem.
I mentioned the oatmeal b/c that helped us w/ the fruits. I think they were just too strong for her at first. I started giving her the oatmeal w/ some pear for breakfast. I added a lil more each day. Now, she likes it. I'm doing the same w/ bananas now.
Does your DD like green beans? I give Buggie some green beans every other day (at least). If I don't, she gets a lil constipated.
My LO LOVES squash and sweet potatoes too. That's is fine with me. They are high in iron and that's what she needs. BM is good, don't worry.
My guy is just starting solids also. He loves peaches, squash and sweet potato. I have noticed that he is enjoying eating more this week and eats a larger amount (compared to a couple bites). Breastmilk is still the primary source of nutrition so I'm not worried about it.
He is not a fan of rice, banana, avocado and green beans are so so.
