That sounds silly, but what other way is there besides the 3 day method? Just curious to know what else is out there. Trying to get tons of info to see which would work better for us.
DD is in pullups now and started to take them off when wet/dirty. Last night she actually finished peeing on the potty, so we decided to put her in big girl panties today and see what happens. From 8:30-12 she only had 1 accident (but didn't pee on the potty at all...)
Tonight I am going to start restricting fluids after 6.
Is it possible that she'll just "get it" without having to institute a specific method? Or am I just in a dreamworld.
Re: Can you PT without a "method"?
My niece has been PT'd for about 6mo and my DD showed interest in the potty. So, we started with a sticker chart and cut the diapers cold turkey. I don't know if a sticker chart is a 'method.' She lost interest in the chart after week two.
It's been about a month. She has some issues pooping (going intermittently - thankfully she's very regular so we plan accordingly) on the toilet but it's surprisingly been a smooth transition otherwise. I think my H and I had to adjust more mentally than she did, like re-programming to hit the restrooms while being out of the house. If you think your DD is ready, I'd just give it a go.
I didn't use the 3-day method with either of mine. I didn't follow a specific method just did what I thought would work with DS. DD did a lot on her own so yes she can just "get it" without a method.
We used a sticker chart with DS. We went cold-turkey from diapers to underwear(except for sleeping) and it took him about 2 weeks before he really got it and had accident free days and was telling me every time he needed to go. I started by taking him every hour. After a few days he started telling me he had to go and I would just remind him throughout the day to tell mommy when he needed to go potty.
DD just potty trained 2 weeks ago. She has been sitting on the potty before bath and occasionally throughout the day for a few months. She wanted to sit when DS would go. About a month ago she started telling me every time she was wet/dirty and wanted it off immediately. I sat her on the potty when she would do that and told her that pee/poop goes in the potty. Then 2 weeks ago she was naked after bath and went and sat on the potty herself and peed. The next day I put her in panties and she only had 2 accidents. Day 2 in panties was not as good. Day 3 she woke up said "wear my Minnie panties, pee in the potty" and has only had 2 accidents since then(both while we were out).
We didn't follow any kind of method. We just started slowly, with him sitting on the potty whenever he wanted to and made alot of fuss whenever he went. Then he just started wanting to do it more and more, and started peeing in it every time he tried. One day we just decided since he was peeing every time he sat on it, we would try underwear. So we sent him to daycare one day in underwear instead of a diaper. He had alot of accidents that day, but within a week was down to only 1-2 accidents a day, and now has several days accident free. We still use diapers/pull ups for naps and nights, but only underwear during the day. We also started giving him m&m's when he went, but don't really do that everytime anymore.
So I guess we just went cold turkey. I don't get the 3 Day method I don't think. What are the 3 days? Isn't it just putting them in underwear one day? What happens on days 2 and 3?
