TTC After a Loss 6 Months+

I think my wait is almost over...

Cramps have really, really set in tonight. My lower back is KILLING me. This feels like AF from hell cramps. Is this really going to be painful? Shall I stock up on the Motrin?

I have a pretty high pain threshold, but so far, this sucks.

Re: I think my wait is almost over...

  • Oh Carrie :(  I'm so sorry.  I hope it goes quickly for you.

My m/c's are super painful - but I have some friends who have said theirs weren't.  I might stock up on Motrin just in case - and stay ahead of the pain (take it regularly for the first two days).

    ::big hugs::

  • How's this for cold hearted? My biggest concern right now is that I don't mess up my new sheets. Yes, I'm a loser. I have NO idea what to expect, and in the back of my head, I've got this idea that there's going to be this massive amount of blood. *sigh*

  • sorry I know what you're going through (and its going to sound horrible) but I spent the entire time just in the bathroom and on the toilet because I had the same concern.

My m/c hurt horribly. Worst pain I've felt in my entire life. I recommend pain meds (I didn't take any because I was in denial throughout) and two hot water bottles - one for your lower back and one for your lower abdomen.

I am so sorry that you are going through this.

  • It's a legitimate concern! And hoenstly, sometimes it's easier to focus on that kind of stuff - as opposed to the real, hugely crappy things :(

You could always sleep on a towel, to be sure that you'd save your sheets.  For me, my first m/c was super heavy and I leaked onto the couch one night (TMI, I know), but my second was like a normal period.  I think it's one of those things that just depends.  :(

  • You're not a loser. It's really scary, especially when it's unknown. I didn't have a natural miscarriage, but I was waiting to the entire week between diagnosis and d&c and I was SCARED of what would happen.

My thoughts are with you, Carrie. I hope it is as easy as can be expected. ((hugs))

  • Here's cold hearted factoid # 2. I would like to get this at least started, so I can go on a mad drinking binge with my BFF this weekend and not feel guilty at the miniscule possibility that this whole thing was just a lab screw up.

  • Our mind goes to such weird, practical places... I think it's how we deal with tramatic crap.

Darling I wish I could just wrap you up in the most massive hug. I strongly recommend loading up on the Motrin or whatever strong stuff you've got lying around. Heating pads are also a huge help for me when I have bad cramps.

I hope you understand what I mean when I say I'm glad this is happening for you now. I'm glad it's happening (fairly) quickly and that you'll have the weekend to lay low, mope, get smashed, do whatever you need/want.

Please know I'm here for you in any way you need.

  • I hope it is over soon and you can be drunk and lying in the gutter like you should be :)

God you  know me well. I'll hopefully be lying in the gutter this weekend.

The theme of BFF's b day party is "Lets drink like we're 18 again"

*sigh* Canada and it's legal drinking age.. loves it.

  • My cramps were so painful.  I took painkillers and sleeping pills and was still woken up several nights with them.  I also bled so much for a couple days that I made DH buy me adult diapers so that I could stop ruining my clothes.

  • I'm sorry Carrie.  I'd ask your dr to call in something for you, then you have it and can chose to use it if you need to.  A heating pad helps a lot too.  If you don't have a heating pad, you can fill one of your BF's tube socks with rice and heat it up in the microwave.  The heat will really help with the cramping.

  • I'm sorry I'm late to this.  Given where your betas where, my guess is that this will probably be like an extra heavy and crampy period.  I just hope it comes and goes soon so you can enjoy what sounds like a kickass party.

This is exactly what mine was like.  I never had a lot of bleeding with any of my losses.  I mean, not, like, A LOT.  They where a little heavier than period bleeding - but not too terrible.  You can get some puddle pads (for potty training dogs) to sleep on - it's the same thing the hospitals use for women after they deliver.

I found that HEAT was really important.  I got some of those self-heating heat pad thingies for menstrual cramps and back aches and just wore them all the time.  They were really helpful.

(ETA: Just like a man. All solution, no emotion:  Also, I'm really sorry.  This sucks.  I'm sorry you had to wait, I'm sorry you have to go through it, I'm just so sorry.  :(  )

  • I hope it is over quickly for you, and with as little pain as possible (HUGS)
  • I didn't have a natural m/c, but sounds like you got good suggestions from everyone else.  I would definitely see about getting something stronger than regular Motrin just in case.  I took the prescription Motrin after my D&C and it helped a lot.  I really hope you get through this quickly and as painlessly as possible.

I'm so sorry that you have to deal with this.  Drunk in the gutter sounds like a good place to be this weekend.  I would join you if I could.  ((hugs))

  • Carrie,
I really hope this doesn't drag out for you.  You've been thru enough, I hope this part of the process ends quickly.
  • Hey honey, I'm late seeing this. Mine was just like a two week long period and then a huge gush at the end. I never had a lot of cramps or anything. I hope (even though the pain sucks newbie goat balls) that your cramps mean it will be over for you quickly.

Im so sorry Carrie. This sucks in every way possible.  I hope its over for you quickly.  (hugs)

As BBHME said about your numbers, they were about where mine were when I m/c in Jan, so it shouldnt be *that painful*.  The pain wasnt bad at all and the bleeding was moderate (heavier than a normal period, for me).  The worst part of all of it was my first period after.  That to me, hurt more than the m/c itself.

Once again, I am so sorry.  This fvcking sucks.  (big hugs)

  • i'm sorry i have no advice but just wanted to send you some hugs.
