We are starting to introduce a bottle, for when I go back to work so that DH can get used to feeding him and A gets used to taking the bottle. Well he has zero problems taking the bottle at all, it just seems as if he doesnt realize he's full.
We he nurses I can tell when he's finished and full, and I like to think A does too. However a few times now when he's taken the bottle he glups down the milk like there's no tomorrow. Like tonight he drank 6oz and DH seemed to think he wanted more. And on Saturday night DH gave him 8oz of milk..he's only 6wks old. I just think that's crazy.
So I guess my question is, has anyone else seem to have this problem? and I just keep thinking that A doesnt realize he's full when drinking from a bottle...does this make sense?
Thanks.
Re: Introducing a bottle...HELP!
From all my research, babies do not over eat...It is only when they (we) get older do we have eating problems lol...
I would ask the Dr about eating 6-8oz however, I know my friends LO ate so many ounces of breast milk that the Dr recommended adding rice at a really young age..... When I give G the bottle she eats about 4oz and then pulls away...we have tried to give her more but she turns her head or keeps her mouth closed lol....
So, I think that Alex will do the same when he is full....However if he is happy and content after his 6 or 8oz feeding than I think that is good..only if he is fussy would I give him more...IMO
All our nipples are slow flow, I checked cuz I thought I might have had the fast ones.
THIS is exactly what i'm thinking.
I would say take breaks after every ounce. Give him a little break and burp. Then go back to the bottle.
But K definitely eats more off the bottle than the boob. She will eat 4 ounces in a sitting from a bottle and I know I don't always have 4 ounces in the boob.
