January 2011 Moms

I don't think I like the Bump's fruit comparison chart

I was just looking to see what different fruits and veggies the bump compares fetal size to as the baby develops. Week 37-delivery is a WATERMELON!

Indifferent

Plus I am not sure how one week baby is as big as a cantaloupe and the next week a banana?

  • The cantaloupe to banana one pisses me off.  I know they're probably going on length and all, but really?

  • They explain somewhere the the measurements are crown to rump, but I agree...some of it seems way off.

  • No no no, THAT's the week that all babies start doing aerobics and running track so they lose the roundness and are suddenly skinny Stick out tongue teeheehee
  • I don't know.. I like the comparisons :) It's nice to have the visual image in mind.
Survived major c-section complications which led to massive blood transfusion, hysterectomy, BSO and pulmonary embolism. Very thankful to be alive to raise my kids! Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker
  • Prunes are exactly great either! I just keep thinking my baby is the size of something that makes me poop!
  • I stopped using the fruit ticker when I was eating blueberries and the ticker said "Baby is the size of a blueberry!" How could I get excited when I was eating my child?! (In my mind, of course)

This week your baby is going through a period of rapid growth. Trust that you will read that in any pregnancy book week after week. Don't worry, it continues on through the "1st year" books! It always cracked DH and I up!  Stick out tongue

  • Watermelon is pretty accurate.  Trust me by the time you deliver you will feel like you are birthing a watermelon out the size of a lemon.

    so very true!!!
  • LOL- well I understand why they make the comparisons they do (length not circumference, etc) but I don't think I find the image of carrying around a watermelon very exciting! I am 35 and late to having kids and one reason is because I have always been terrified of delivery, so that's probably part of my aversion to it!
