Anyone else really annoyed about Father's Day??

babygirlpriest's post below got me thinking. I told DH it was up to him what we did on Father's Day, and he insists we take up his brother's invitation to go to dinner at their pool club in the suburbs with my BIL and SIL, their children, my FIL and his wife, and SIL's parents. We do this every freaking year, we have to just sit there while all the men open their freaking Father's Day presents. And every year I wonder why the FVCK I'm spending this day with people who aren't even related to DH (my BIL's in-laws) let alone to me.

Father's day doesn't annoy me as it's about my dad. But if I were in your shoes I'd be annoyed too. Mother's day is a little different as I found out I was pg w/ first m/c the day after Mother's day, so that one is a little tougher for me. DH doesn't seem to mind these things as much. Sorry you have to deal with that though!

I am having a really rough time with it this year. If I have to see another father's day ad or commercial I am going to go crazy. It just hurts so bad because I know dh will be such an awesome father.

Believe me, I would if it were up to me. I'm seeing my dad in the morning and I have to let DH do what he wants with his dad. And he wants to go. Sucks.

Father's Day is easier for me than Mother's Day.  Aside from all of our issues, I lost my mom about 8 years ago so I dread that day and all of the commercials that come with it.  This year we are having a BBQ at our house for DH's family and also belatedly celebrating my birthday so I'm just pretending it's all about me.
