MSPI and not leaving the house?

I have a coworker who had twins six months ago.  I was bugging them about not bringing the babies up to work for everyone in the office to oooh and ahhh over them and he said that once their MSPI clears up hopefully they will get to leave the house.  He then went on to say that they never go anywhere.  Huh?  Why would that be?  Maybe I'm missing something..

Re: MSPI and not leaving the house?

  • It would hope the babies aren't still screaming in pain by now!  It was tough for me to go places for long periods of time b/c my diet was so limited (couldn't just grab something while we were out) and I had to bring all of my food with me but I left the house.

I know that they are on super expensive formula and every picture he emails they are smiling and laughing, so I guess I don't get it.  They don't even go to the zoo or anything!  I feel weird asking him why MSPI would prevent them from leaving the house but curiosity may get the best of me.

Were they preemies?  Maybe it's not MSPI that's keeping them home but the threat of RSV.

  • um... yeah that is super duper weird.  i would ask.  and report back - i am curious!! ;)

michael had pretty severe MSPI, to the extent of needing to be on iron due to intestinal bleeding and being borderline FTT.  i EBF so i was on a SUPER restricted diet - no dairy or soy or anything even remotely connected with them.  and... we still went out...

i mean, if it were about eating outside the house, ok.  i couldn't eat at a restaurant until he outgrew it (and thank god he did - i am so grateful!)  but if they're FF i have NO idea what would prevent them from leaving the house....

i'm telling you - ask and report back ;)
