We had a sun-up rule. If you don't see the sun peeking, you don't get out of your room!
Good rule...except here on the East Coast it is broad daylight by shortly after 5am. Luckily Natalie is sleeping through it. She used to wake up with the sun, ugh!

It definitely hovers between totally sweet and totally exhausting.
This morning I was awakened by Blake's sweet little face going, "Mommy, I peed out." Meaning his diaper didn't hold overnight and we'll be washing sheets for the third morning in a row. Yay!
Door knob cover on inside of door solves the problem (until they figure it out). We have a 6:30 rule.. You have to stay in your room until 6:30. Sleeping or not!

Sam figured out the door knob cover approximately 45 seconds after we put it on.
I've got a whole article on getting kids to sleep in. Hopefully I'll remember to bring it tomorrow. One of my favs was to put a star sticker on the tv power button and the play button on the DVD player. Then when he gets up, he can push both stars and watch a movie. (assuming you remembered to load it the night before...I could easily forget) Good luck, before you know it - he'll be a teenager sleeping until noon
Re: Can I change his bed BACK to a crib?!
haha aw, what a sweet face to wake up to!

Then I would wake up to, "Wake up, Mommy! Sun's peekin'!!!"

This is our rule as well. I love the mornings when O comes barreling into our room: "Mom! The sun's up! Wake up mom!"
