Boo... I'm sorry. I had mine yanked years ago once they decided to go all impacted. Hurt like the devil getting them out, but not as much as before they were removed.
I had a fancy 360 x-ray done of my jaw a few years ago and I only have 1 wisdom tooth and it's never emerged. I keep worrying that it will decide to push up and I'll have to have it pulled.
Not a fan of dental surgery. Had a permanent tooth NOT come in and I had to have it surgically pulled down (with a brace). Oral surgery sucks.
I think the point is to give dentists a steady revenue stream.
FWIW, I've had all 4 of mine since I was a teenager...I guess I must be really smart...my dentist has talked about pulling them but they don't cause me any problems other than they need a little extra attention when I get my teeth cleaned.

Heather... I was 14 at the time, I think. I lost my primary (baby) eye tooth when I was 12 and the permanent tooth never grew in. Apparently there was no space for it, so I had to get braces to make a space and then oral surgery to "guide" the tooth down.
The main thing I remember about the experience was watching the trees on the ride home and being all drugged out.

Bummer, but I agree sedation is the best way to deal with it! It was some of the best $328 I've ever been charged. Plus, my surgeon was HOT!
I love Vicodin.
I hope you feel better soon!
