swim diapers

are they supposed to keep LO dry?? or just contain poop?

we tried them last week and it resulted in an epic fail. DD was scared to go in the pool so we left her in her swimsuit and swim diaper while she played outside. 15 minutes later I pick her up and she's drenched! the same thing happened the next day when we tried again...

Re: swim diapers

  • I think they are mostly for containing the poop.

  • They just contain the poop. We did this as well. It totally makes sense, I just never thought anything of it until he was peeing all over the place!
  • thanks ladies! i thought i was going crazy!
  • LOL my biggest fear is that some day she will actually poop IN the swim diaper...I swear I will cut the diaper off rather than try to pull it over her legs...LOL

Someone the other day mentioned that they "lay" a NB or size 1 diaper in the swim diaper, without securing it, so that way when the LO is ready to swim, they just pull the smaller diaper out the back. That way it contains the pee without getting the swim diaper/clothes/car seat wet. I thought that was a pretty good idea if you're going to the beach or something.

Oh Gosh, another thing I never thought of! I'll have to add a pair of scissors to the beach bag! LOL!

This happened to me. Don't you know the first time she's ever worn one and she pooped in it... and not her usually little poop, this was a messy one! ugh... i pulled the diaper off without realizing that there was poop in it and it went all over the table on the deck and her legs... lots to clean up. not fun.

  • Just an FYI, their made to rip off, so the poop doesn't go everywhere. Just tear at the sides ;)
