Baptism ?????

girls can you help me with recs for baptism? I amstarting to organize Rodney's baptism and looking around for churches and places to have the lunch after...anyways I have all the info of what I used for my other son's baptism but I would like to try something new....

So far I really don't want to deal with churches that ask for too many requirements LOL...and if you could let me know of places/restaurants to have the lunch  after church

I am flexible about the areas could be (south miami,  coral gables,  kendall, etc)

TIA

Re: Baptism ?????

  • catholic or christian?  Because I'm pretty sure the only church down here that is flexible for baptisms (meaning, they don't require you to be a part of the church beforehand) is Mother of Christ.  Everyone else requires you to have attended a church, theirs or another, and show proof of it (my sister in law was looking for a flexible church and i had to call a bunch of places for her.  St. Kevin's, St. Timothy's, Our lady of Lourdes, St. Brendan, etc... they're really strict when it comes to their guidelines.)  Mother of Christ seems to be pretty lenient, though, I know a few people who have baptized there and I don'tt hink they require a letter from the church your attend. I have the Archdiocese of Miami requirements for baptism that all Churches are required to abide by if you want them!!

  • ah i just realized you were looking for restaurant recs, not church recs lol  sorry!!
  • Jenny...thanks I was also looking fro church recs...I know about Mother of Christ flexibility ..and I also have the choice of using the one I used for my other son's baptism I just want to see what is out there ....

    Thanks

  • Mother of Christ (Coral Way & 132Ave) is VERY flexible with their rules.  They have  nice chapel and offer private ceremonies.  I baptized my oldest godson there (aunt and her DH aren't very religious and they were good with them).

Another church you may want to try is St Augustine (Miller Dr & 60 Ave - by UM).

As for receptions, Towne & Jake's, both near Sunset Place are quaint little restaurants.  I've been to both for religious receptions, and they turned out great.
