DS will only stay asleep on me! Every time I put him in his cradle he starts crying (been fed, changed, etc.) - oh well I expected this! Anyone else up, got any amusing stories to entertain me?
Our first night home was bad too! Don't give up! Actually DH and I were so tired that I asked my sis to come and watch him while I went to sleep and DH was at church playing for the praise band. It gets better, I promise, although DS is definitely sleeping as he eats tonight!
Our first few nights we had what my non-swearing husband termed the "box from **ll" the bili light blanket. Sorry, not too rxciting tonight! Good luck!
I'm up. No stories though. I've just been thinking to myself what the heck is it that I eat that makes DS poop smell the way it does. LOL. Nick is 3 weeks now and still only wants to be with me. GL. You may end up with him sleeping with you in bed.

I put on an episode of Glee to try and stay awake. I'm too chicken to fall asleep with him on me still even though its probably inevitable. Speaking of poop, I changed his diaper about an hour ago and it was all green and grainy! If that wasn't bad enough he then got some on his foot and kicked me in the hand - awesome! Hope you ladies get some sleep!
Our first night home was horrible as well. My mom spent the night with us and she was a godsend. I seriously probably would have broken down more than I did had she not been with us.
It is common for babies to find their mother's chest comforting though. Take it as a compliment He has listened to your heartbeat for 9 months, it is one of most soothing sounds to him! If DS is cranky, I will put him on my chest and he will instantly calm down, and most of the time he will fall asleep. I've (unintentionally) fallen asleep a few times with him on me. It's funny how your sleep changes though once you have a baby. I will always wake up at the slightest movement by him or me. Sometimes I wish I could sleep deep again LOL
Am I the only one who had a really great first night home? LO slept for almost 5 hours straight, it was amazing. Don't worry, it hasn't happened since, and he's more than made up for it,lol. OP- It will get easier. Have you tried swaddling? That's the only way we can get LO to stay asleep.
He LOVES to be swaddled and it usually does help. He is a strong kicker though so when he starts crying he busts right out of the swaddle and then hes upset that he is unswaddled, haha. I'm letting DH sleep so I can get some shuteye when he wakes up!
Lol, DH and I take shifts too. I'm on til about 10. For some reason, I'm wired! LO is asleep, and I'm on a cleaning streak. My LO busts out of his swaddle too, we have to make sure he's super sleepy first.
DH and I have taken shifts from the start. DD just ate and is slowly getting back to sleep which means I get to go wake him for his shift soon! Our LO will also only sleep if swaddled, DH doesn't get this. He'll come tell me she's asleep in the bassinet (not swaddled) and not 5 mins later she'll be screaming.
Well, I didn't sleep the whole night! I woke DS up an hour ago to feed and he fell asleep on me. DH seems to be stirring so I am going to have him watch him now. Thanks for the tips ladies, night!
Our first night home was also a little piece of hell so I feel ya. She pulled the same thing you are talking about would only sleep/calm down on me otherwise screamed bloody murder. Finally at like 4am I told me DH who had gone to bed because he couldnt really help, that he had to come take her and just let her sceam because I was so tired I was worried I would drop her. He took her until like 5:30am when my mom came out and took over and she finally fell asleep around 6:30 that morning. We joked that we now understand why Safe Haven laws exist because that first night home she seriously pushed out limits of sanity. My DH says he told her she wasnt getting a car when she was 16 if she didnt stop and that if she kept it up she might not get to go to her first homecoming either.. .
It does get better, for some reason that first night just seems to be awful. After that things are much much better so just try to get some sleep whenever you can today and hopefully today will be completely different. Good LUCK!
Also if you havent done so invest in a Moby Wrap. On her really cranky days when all she wants to do is lay on my chest to sleep I can pop her in that in the Newborn Hug Hold and at least still have some use of my hands and actually get stuff done around the house. And believe me as someone else said babies definitly want to lay on your chest a lot so it's soo worth it.
