What is Lola short for?

Deloris?  Any other names besides that?  I like it as a nick name, but would like it to go with a longer, more official name - suggestions???

Re: What is Lola short for?

  • Maybe contact Barry Manilow?

In all seriousness, I like it as a nickname but have no idea what it could a nn for.

Honestly, I've never heard it used as a nickname, only a full given name.

Lola and Lolita are both nicknames for Delores. You could probably push it by choosing another formal name with Lo in it, though.

  • Maybe Lordes?
  • I have only seen it as a stand alone name not a nn.  I guess it could also be a nn for Louise, Eloise, Charlotte...

  • My name is Leonie and my nn is Lola, it is easier for people to say and spell. It was a name that was given to me in college when we would go out :)

I know it is Spanish for Little Woman and is usually a term of endearment for a grandmother.

  • I had a little Nigerian girl in my class a few years back named Oluwadamilola (Oh-lou-wah-dahm-ih-lo-la). She went by Lola...though that name might be a little heavy. Haha

What about Viola. It's not much of a nn since it only chops one syllable off, but it might work.
