Poll for EVERYONE!!!

What's your #1 pet peeve with other parents?

You know.... the 1 big thing you TOTALLY judge others for when you see them doing it?

Our IF journey: 1 m/c, 1 IVF with only 3 eggs retrieved yielding Dylan and a lost twin, 1 shocker unmedicated BFP resulting in Jace, 3 more unmedicated pregnancies ending in more losses.
Total score: 6 pregnancies, 5 losses, 2 amazing blessings that I'm thankful for every single day.

Re: Poll for EVERYONE!!!

  • 1.  Not having kids in car seats.

    2.  Hitting a kid.

    3.  Not intervening when your kid's bullying or hitting another child.

  • Kids riding in the front, unbuckled, and/or in the bed of a pickup.  Part of me wants to hit them with my car to be like "well, maybe your kid should be buckled, hmmm?"

    1) Child abuse (which would cover a lot)

    2) Hitting your kid

    3) Smoking near a kid

  • Man, well I was hoping child abuse was a given. That's a bit more than a pet peeve.

  • My #1 pet peeve is parents who smoke. Twice Eva has been hospitalized, struggling to breathe and DH and I have never smoked.  It bothers me so much when I see parents (or pregnant woman) smoking around their kids.  It breaks my heart because I would hate for any child to go through what Eva has been through if it can be prevented.

  • A few months ago, I saw a woman in Costco repeatedly SLAP (hard!) her 15 mo old son's hand (she said his age earlier) for ... wait for it ... hitting his brother.

    1. Feeding your kids junk.

    2. Expecting others to help raise your children while you go off partying it up.

    3. Improper Carseat usage.

    4. Child Abuse

  • Not having kids in carseats (or the wrong kind)
  • Not using car seats.

    Smoking around children.

Bad language in front of children (and I do swear, just not around C!)

Giving kids pop to drink, especially toddlers/pre-schoolers, ESPECIALLY in a baby bottle.

  • Improper discipline, or verbal abuse.  I heard a lady at the mall the other day telling her (about) 2yo that she was a brat and to stop acting stupid!  I wanted to punch her and steal her poor baby.
  • I'm thinking child abuse, etc. are more serious. I was thinking more of the little annoying things. Like when someone's kid is doing something annoying/inappropriate and the mom is looking at you like "aw, isn't my kid so cute." I'm all for appreciating the cuteness of other kids, but not when they're getting on my nerves. Don't worry- I also make sure my own kids aren't doing this to other people as well ;)

Alright, I take pet peeve to mean things that annoy me but aren't going to cause me to call CPS.  So, my pet peeve is when parents drag their young kids around a mall without a stroller and expect them to keep pace with the adult.  Bring one, rent one, or be willing to carry your kid if they are tired.  Don't expect them to keep up with you!
  • I thought of another one...counting as 'discipline' but never following thorugh on it.  Or counting to three in increments of like a billion...1, 2, 2 1/4, 2 1/2, 2 3/4, 2 5/6,...Just freaking get to three and move on!  He's obviously not stopping!
  • giving kids junk food all the time, or if i see a one year old drinking soda.. or eating candy.. that drives me insane!!!!!

smoking in the house or around your kids, dh smokes but only does it outside (not great either but well he cant break the habit)

  • It also drives me nuts when I see kids with their shoes on the wrong feet.

I had a neighbor whose kids always had their shoes on the wrong feet and if I'd point it out, she'd just said, "Oh, they dressed himself today!" Why wouldn't you switch them? Wouldn't you want to be comfortable?

Not supervising their kids.  For example, letting their little ones play out front or at the park & be too busy socializing to make sure their kid is safe or not being a bully.  Along the same lines, assuming that since there are other adults around, one of them is probably watching their kid so they don't really need to.

  • Abuse or neglect is obviously my biggest, but a very specific one is SMOKING in front of kids.  Drives me insane!

  • Screaming at kids, calling them names, or treating them like they're a total nuisance (beyond the normal frustration that everyone feels at some point).

Walking around the zoo, Disneyland, etc. with a visibly sunburned kid.  They sell sunblock there--buy some!!

  • improper carseats.

spanking, screaming, cursing at your kids

    kids eating crap

smoking ON THE PLAYGROUND, wtf is that about??????

kids not dressed appropriately in freezing weather, it gets below zero around here in the winter and seeing kids with no coats or no hats or both drives me batty.
