I have an OB at MGH, but I'm not in love with her. I'm already pregnant. I'd prefer not to hear from my OB that she "strongly discourages" women of my size from getting pregnant. Too late. Move on.
I have heard better things about B&W, and I'd like to get a recommendation for an OB who is size-friendly.
Any suggestions?
Re: Any plus-sized pg gals?
Sorry, I don't have any specific provider recommendations for you, but the website Plus Size Pregnancy has a lot of good info (generally and also specificially for larger moms-to-be, including a national directory). https://www.plus-size-pregnancy.org/firstindex.html
Goodluck! I hope you have lots of luck finding someone that you feel comfortable with and can work well with.

I'm not the smallest jelly bean in the bag, either, but my OB has never said anything about my weight. I did gain 12 pounds (shockingly!) and she did say I should prob. try to keep it around 20 lbs. (I'm 6 mo. preggo) but other than that, she's never said anything or made me feel bad.
I am going to deliver at Newton Wellesley, so I see an OB in Wellesley - from the About Women By Women practice. I like them thus far, but I will be switching to a midwife in the next couple weeks. (Primarily because I want a natural birth and feel they would be the best advocates for me in the hospital. They focus on a holistic approach to pregnancy & women's health.)
Both are easily accessible and are located on Rt. 9 (right next to each other, actually.)
Here's the websites:
About Women by Women - https://www.aboutwomenbywomen.net
and the Midwives at Women's Health Associates - https://www.womenshealthassoc.com/midwives.html (They actually have an office in Newton, too, if that's closer to you. I can't wait to switch over!)
I have also heard great things about the midwives at Mount Auburn Hospital.
Good luck! Hope this helps!
Hi,
I'm a little late here but I thought I'd chime in anyway. I was also quite plus-sized when I got pregnant. And I gained another 40 lbs during my pregnancy. I delivered at Newton Wellesley. My obgyn is part of Wellesley Women's Care, located in the hospital. I go to Dr Ann Dolloff and she never once made a comment about my weight. I really recommend the practice.
Good Luck!
