Making witch hazel pads?

I have read that some have put witch hazel on maxi pads and then stuck them in the freezer for post-delivery relief.  I mentioned it to my mother-in-law and she thought it was the best idea ever   So, my question is, exactly how do you make them?  How much witch hazel?

I made mine with chamomile(sp) tea and witch hazel. I put half a cup of each in a big bowl and dunked the pads in it.

open the pad, don't take any of the tabs off and leave the outer wrap on too.  squirt witch hazel on the pad (enough to get it wet), fold back up, put them in a ziploc bag, freeze.  i made 5 at a time, it was sweet relief.

That's an awesome idea... how long do you freeze them for?

I'm just going to make a bunch and stick them in our deep freeze...take them out as needed.

I made some too; I opened the pad, (left the back on so the sticky part is still covered) and covered the pad in witch hazel.  I left them lying flat and in between each one I put a sheet of wax paper so they didn't stick together in the freezer.  Mine have been in there over a week, since I am not sure when LO will be here.  I think they are completely fine in there until you need to use them.  I took one out to see how it turned out, and it is very easy to shape and mold, so I'm sure they'll be great for after delivery.

do you just buy the witch hazel bottle from the drug store? I was going to pick some up, but it has like 30% alcohol in it, so I wasn't sure if it was the right stuff. Is that what you all used?

Yes; I found it right next to the Hydrogen Peroxide and Rubbing Alcohol (near the first aid stuff), in a bottle just like those come in, and it says Witch Hazel on it.  I didn't notice different kinds, just the one I bought.

That's an awesome idea... how long do you freeze them for? 

until they're frozen...or cold enough for you.  I just made 5 at a time because I didn't know how long I would need them, so when there was only one left, I made a few more if I was still hurting.  I only used them for 3 days.
