I have been to Avant at Gateway and its hit or miss, Saks was great but I only went once who knows what the outcome will be the next time. Who do you rec. that does a fab job each and every time.
I have them threaded by a fabulous and super inexpensive woman at HEB in Georgetown. (Yes, I said HEB.) She rents a little booth in the old video rental space at the front of the HEB at 29 and I-35. She's awesome and she charges $10 for brows, $5 for upper lip.

is it really good? i have had them threaded once (expensive) and everytime i am on that side of town i see that place....hmmm maybe i should try it!
Threading is awesome! if I had eyebrows to maintain, I'd definitely have them threaded, not waxed. As it is my eyebrows don't really grow, so I don't have eyebrow maintenance that I can't take care of myself.

Yes, she's great! She's all business-- no chit chatting, etc. , just in and out. The first time she did my brows, they were a little thin for my liking, so I told her I wanted them a little thicker and she did exactly what I wanted with no problems and no real explanation. She just knew.
Yeah.. I did not like threading so much either. Its too close to plucking (which makes the eyes water and the nose sneezy) for my tastes. I do go to Avant at Gateway, but I've found that the little petite girl with the pixie cut (I forgot her name.. will have to call to find out) did the best job.
I had a bad experience with threading at the booth in Barton Creek Mall. It hurt! It took forever too. I ended up with scabs and was sore for several days after.
I had mine threaded at Tara's last year before my wedding and had two cuts that scabbed as well! I was so mad! Fortunately they were small enough that they healed and I could cover the scars with makeup, but WTF?
I'm now scared to do it and may stick to waxing, but haven't found anywhere I really like.
I've done the threading at Tara's a couple of times. I don't get what the fuss is all about. It takes 4 times as long as waxing and hurts 20 times as much, and it looks the same. And, it lasts the same amount of time.
Your HEB lady sounds like a real find and its cheap. I'd try that, but otherwise I always just get it done when I get my nails done.
I go to Top Spa & Nails on Parmer. It's 10 bucks and they do a great job. I've learned to shield my feelings from the nice little Asian lady who either: a) offers to wax my lip when I didn't ask her to, or b) comments that it's clearly been a long time since I was last in there.
Half the time that's why I end up getting my brows waxed when I am getting my nails done. "You want brow wax? You need it. You need lip wax, too." Ouch.
I go to Tara's and really like it. I've noticed the people on Anderson seem to do a better job than the one at the mall (although I've only been to the mall one twice, so it could just be coincidence). I have had issues w/ waxing because I use retinol, (when I am not PG), and that makes my skin come off w/ the wax!
Although, the people at Tara's also always ask me, "Would you like upper lip, too?" and once asked "Would you like full face?"

If you prefer waxing, I go to Linda at Jose Luis. She is terrific and I was recommended to her from another Nestie who has been seeing her for years.
The last time this was posted someone (austin mimi or maybe the original nestie client??) recommended Linda @ Jose Luis. I have been going to her since & love her. Highly recommend her!

Ya I know threading is amazing! I find it to be more accurate than waxing. The lady I just tried at saks does threading but it is quite pricey ($25 plus tip just for eyebrows). Does the lady you are rec. shape the eyebrow? Do you think you can send me a pic of your eyebrows?
I prefer threading to waxing. I tried Tara's and while the results were fine, the price was $$$! Before the move I went to Jamila's Salon (Anderson Ln & Rockwood) https://www.jamilasalon.com/index.html - Eyebrow and lip are $15, and the salon is nicer.
FWIW, I have never had a problem with scabbing but I always avoid the creme they offer after threading.

LOL i hate when that happens! they always offer to wax my lip when i'm just getting my brows done. i'm like - what are you trying to tell me, lady?!?!

I may have to check this place out. Now that I am on a budget, paying $20 for a threading is a bit pricey.
I always get the cream because it's like a mini-massage! It's my favorite part about getting threaded
I go to Debbie at Salon Aura (S. Congress and Riverside). I've followed her for 5 years from Jackson Ruiz to Anne Kelso to Salon Aura. The phone number there is 474.2872. I am so sad that we are moving and I won't have my "brows of perfection" (as someone once called them) anymore!
No siggy pic until TB gets rid of Twitter and FB links
i went to karen at kiss-n-makeup for several years. it was $50/visit but she plucks them by hand and shapes them. she is really awesome and it was worth the $$$

I recommend Tara's Salon for threading.

I got the full face offer at the nail place, once. When I declined, she grunted. Now I am paranoid that I look like wolfman.

I have been going to Avant since moving to Texas but its always hit or miss. Maybe I should try one of the ladies you rec. Thanks.
