Babies: 0 - 3 Months

Did anyone here use a belly bandit? Sizing question.

This was brought up on 3rd tri but maybe there are more actual users here.  The sizing says to measure in your 8th month.  The first stupid question is, does this actually mean prior to completing the 8th month, like weeks 28-32?  My waist had been hanging out at 37 inches for weeks and I am finally at 38 inches now.  This is right between sizes and I don't want to buy too small so I can't get it on but don't want it too big that it isn't effective.  Any advice?

  • My advice would be to go try one on. I thought for sure I'd be a medium, but ended up getting the large. The store held one of each size and then DH went to get it once I delivered, so he returned with the M only to have to go get the L. I wore it consistently for 3 1/2 weeks, and now it's just waaaay too big. I am SO happy with the results, and even if it didn't do anything, it was worth its weight in gold because of the support it gave me with having a c-section. If you can't try it on, I'd say buy both and return one... the sizing is just totally weird.

There isn't a store near me that carries them, I will have to buy online.  Did you end up in the large because you didn't shrink down as much as you thought after delivery or because the sizing runs small?  If the medium one fits right away and I had to switch to a small in a couple of weeks I would be OK with that, I just don't want to have the wrong size from the start.

I was a size 12 prior to having my son.  I bought a size medium.  It didn't fit the first few days post-partum, but I had a c/s and wasn't interested in putting anything near my belly.  I started wearing it after anout 5-6 days pp.  Honestly, my problem area is lower in my belly, so I have been getting more use out of the elastic band from the hospital for this area.  but, I sam wearing both as we speak.  Sitting in the Belly Band-it isn't super comfy...

  • I was a size 6/8 pre-preg and bought a medium. It fit for the first week but then it was too big, so I had to take it back and get the small. I would definitely recommend getting one! It gave me cramps every time I wore it, so I knew it was helping to shrink my uterus. I stopped wearing it like 3-4 weeks pp, but it was soo worth it!
  • sorry I'm late responding to your above question  -- I was really swollen, so I think due to that, the Large fit ok right after delivery. If I wouldn't have been so swollen, I think I would have definitely gotten the Medium right from the start. If you can, just order both (I know it's a lot of money upfront) so you can try both of them on. I LOVED mine. It was really comfortable, which was nice, considering I was in it for 24 hours. But another tip - don't get a printed one, get either the bamboo or black. I got the burberry looking one and it showed through a lot of clothes...
