Hi Ladies,
This is our first try with IVF, and I am to go in tomorrow with the hopes of starting stims tomorrow night. I am very aware that this could change and that the cycle could be cancelled, but I am asking these questions assuming things go as planned.
I have a bachelorette party to go to on Friday night. I am obviously going to be taking it easy (very easy) that night, but based on your experiences with stims, what are the chances I am going to feel up to going out to dinner and then dancing on Friday?
Now, I also have the wedding on Saturday, May 15th. The mock schedule my RE gave me says that the 15th is the tentative day for my retrieval. I know that this is all speculative, but in the event that I am not yet ready for the retrieval by the 15th, what are the chances that I will be up to going to a wedding after stimming for that long?
The bride does not know what is going on, and as bad as I would feel if I had to miss the wedding, I am just not comfortable telling her the details of what is going on. DH is planning on attending with or without me.
Thanks for any advice you have!
Have a good night!
Re: When did you start to feel sore when stimming?
I never really felt bad on stims. But, I have diminished ovarian reserve so I don't produce a lot of eggs (never more than 6 or so).
Good luck with getting started!

It's been a long journey. TTC since 9/06. multiple IUI's and IVF's and 4 m/c's. IVF#3 = BFP, twins, induced at 34w6d due to baby b passing away (no explanation). Delivered on 35w1d, Baby A - baby girl, and Baby B - baby boy, our little angel.

I didn't have any trouble while stimming. I was uncomfortable/bloated, but nothing unbearable; however, I do remember my RE telling me to be careful while stimming (later in the stim cycle). Avoid excessive exercise, no sex, and not to do a lot of lifting/turning to avoid twisting of the ovaries. So with dancing, I'd just be real careful and take it easy as to avoid any issues with twisting of the ovaries -- but definitely enjoy yourself.
As for the wedding, you'll just have to wait and see. You won't really know how you are responding to stims until you get into the monitoring appointments. I've seen a lot of girls who don't respond right away, but then have a burst where the follies will start growing at a faster rate. I stimmed for 9 days on the antagonist protocol during IVF#1, but RE switched me to a lupron protocol this time and said the stimming could last a little longer because of the down regulation of the lupron.
Best of luck and looks like we'll be cycle buddies! Let me know if you have any questions. It can be overwhelming....

I was sore starting like day 2-3 of stimming. I swear my ovaries felt huge immediately. Maybe it was in my head, I don't know, but I would not have been up for dancing. I had 18 retrieved, which isn't overly high.
The day of the transfer, I had the transfer in the am. I might have been ok for a wedding that night, but I would have slept most of the day beforehand and had an early night. Probably no dancing, and just sitting around.
I started feeling pretty sore around Day 5, but it probably wouldn't have stopped me from going to any special events. Toward the end I wouldn't have been dancing for long, but could have still gone.
Good luck!

Wow! Thanks so much for all of your support! I feel much better now about these next few weeks. I am just going to plan to attend both events and not feel bad if things have to deviate from that.
I know I haven't been on this board all that long, but the more time I spend here, the better I feel about my situation and IF in general. I hope that when I get this IVF cycle under my belt, I can repay the favor to someone else who has questions someday!
Take Care Ladies!
Everyone's experience is different but after 3.5 IVF cycles (I'm in the middle of my 4th now), I've NEVER had any soreness while stimming. I really haven't been impacted by stimming whatsoever....it wouldn't even cross my mind to cancel plans like a wedding while stimming since it's such a non-event for me (besides the fact that you have to give yourself the shots at some point during the reception but I've done triggers / stim shots in public restrooms a few times now!).
