What would you price this at?

I'm pricing garage sale stuff and I have a decent king sized comforter. It's nothing spectacular (not real expensive new), but in good condition and comes with a bed skirt and to sham covers... I was thinking $25-30? WDYT?

Re: What would you price this at?

  • I wouldn't price anything. I had a garage sale last year and NOTHING sold at the price it was tagged. If it was priced 10.00 people would pick up 3 things and say I will give you 10 for these. Or they would say I will give you 5 for this. What most people would do is pick up everything they wanted and then come to you and say I will give you X amt of money for all this! You could tell most of the buyers are very good at this and do it often.

Funny story, I had about 15 purses and I had a man come to me and say I will give you X amt for all of them. Weird I thought:)

  • LOL at the man with the purses!!

I totally expect the bargaining and that's completely fine. But, I'd like to set a starting point at least. Sometimes I get what I ask for things and sometimes people bargain and since we have several "big ticket items" (deep freeze, digital camera, tools, glider, etc) I'm hoping to make some cash! Wink

  • That sounds fair. You can always go down-- never up.

Tip: Make sure it's all spotlessly clean, then package it up in a clear bag. I had a yard sale and sold a ton of linens that I was tired of. I packed everything in sets, bagged up in ziplocs, old bags from comforters, etc, and not one person tried to bargain. The more effort you put into it, the more money you will get out.

It's funny you tell me to bag it up in the set because I've already done that! LOL Good to know I'm doing something right. Wink
