How do you curtail "wardrobe changes"?

I am so done with Audrey changing into a new dress every hour. She just changed and then threw a huge fit that the dress was too cold. I told her if she wears it the material will warm up. She had a meltdown and wanted to be changed into a new dress. Already her third today.

I had enough and told her that if she was cold, then she was going to dress warm and I put her in pants and a long sleeved shirt. She's upstairs having a meltdown because she wants the cold dress, but hates how it makes her cold.

What can I do to keep her in like 1 or 2 outfits a day?

  • Giada seriously changes more than 10 times a day. Plus she constantly changes in her various princess dresses that she has a trunk full of. I figure she is playing and let her go. I also make her clean up the clothes because she was putting them on the floor in her room.

I had to move DD's dresser into her closet. Her princess gear and dress up items are outside of it. I tell her she can dress up in anything she wants as long as it is outside of the closet. The first week was HARD. Now not to much.

I do not use "you can change when you are dirty" because she would purposely get dirty to change.

I also give her 2 outfit choices in the morning. She can choose what to wear from that.

  • DD was going through clothes like mad and would leave them all of over floor.  I finally got fed up and took all of her clothes to the basement.  So now, she can only change when I bring something up for her.  It can be a pain at times, but so much better than doing load after load of laundry and spending so much time picking up her room!
