Clicky: What % of your family dinners are made from scratch

There was a poll before but it had very nest-like answers (ie - not 100%  1% of the time I serve organic tomato sauce imported from naples!!  bad mommy!)

not even that far.. more like hamburger helper vs fresh fish/vegetables not from a bag.

I always have a hard time answering this...tonight we are having fish, rice and veggies. The rice is long-grain, not instant and not flavoured or anything. The veggies are fresh and I cut them up and stir fry them. The fish is frozen and comes lightly breaded. Is this from scratch or not? I mean, half of it is and half isn't.

i'd call that like 60% fresh or whatever...   so if you ate like that 7 nights a week then I'd say you cook 60-70% from scratch.

I don't get it. How is that not from scratch?   Because of the rice?

There is a difference between fresh and scratch right?  And eating clean?

Eff.  Just give me a mothereffing frozen pizza.

because the fish is frozen/breaded (processed)

I cook from scratch a lot, but my veggies are very often frozen from a bag and steamed.  I don't think there is anything processed about those.

  • For all of my downfalls as a mom this is something I actually do! I don't make my own bread or tortillas but I do make non hamburger-helper type meals. Though I do use a frozen bag of veggies maybe once a week. My fave though is the seasoned microwaveable asparagus from (and don't shoot me for saying this) Trader Joe's. They make it so easy to serve healthy stuff..that's why I like it. Anyway, it is time consuming so I can see why it could be tough to fit in but I like to cook and have the time to for it.
