What do you do with soiled bibs?

Everytime I feed my LO solids, they end up everywhere.  His bibs are gross by the time we are done and I really have no idea what to do with them until I have enough clothes to do a load of laundry.  What do you do?

TIA!

Re: What do you do with soiled bibs?

  • I hate to state the obvious, but laundry basket??
  • Loading the player...
  • I rinse them in the sink and then let them semi-dry on the edge of the sink. Then I throw them in the wash when I wash blankets and bibs with hot water.
  • Sounds like you're not using plastic bibs.

Get one.  Stat.  You can wash it in the sink with the dishes.

  • I use the wipe off plastic bibs. I just use a wet paper towel to get off any mess.
  • I just toss them in the laundry basket. DD usually needs a load of clothes every 2-3 days, so it's not like they're in there for a week or anything.
  • I rinse the bibs out by hand. That way the food isn't caked on for a few days. I do laundry once a week.

  • We don't even use bibs anymore. J is such a messy eater, he eats in his diaper. Makes clean up much easier.

Right on! So much easier to clean.

  • I rinse off the food and let it dry on the side of the sink.  Then throw it in the laundry hamper and it gets washed with the next load.  I do laundry twice a week.
  • I love the plastic bibs.. and I buy those Pamper ones where they are like throw aways. I hated using cloth bibs on DS when he started eating food food. Some of the bibs he had were really nice and now I cant get the stains out of them =(
  • We've switched entirely to plastic bibs.   There was no getting some of that stuff off of the cloth bibs.  Now I just rinse it in the sink as soon as she is done eating.

This.  In the rare chance we use a cloth bib I put it in with the dishes anyways and just let it dry on the side of the sink and put it in the laundry basket. Besides, I can always find laundry that needs to be done.

  • If they're really messy I'll rinse them in the sink and then throw them in the laundry basket after they're dry. But if they're not too bad I just toss them in her laundry. I usually do a load at least once/week or every 4-5 days so it's not like they're in there for a long time or anything. We also have some plastic bibs now too, those are great!!

  • Toss them in her laundry basket.  BUT I see raves about plastic bibs and might have to start using them instead.
  • DS is pretty messy (he self feeds) so he gets two bibs.  The regular bib goes on first, I put it on tight around his neck.  It's to catch anything that gets underneath the plastic bib, because they aren't exactly tight around the neck.  The plastic bib he wears on top is this: https://www.greensproutsbaby.com/gslsbib.html  I wash off the plastic bib in the sink when I wash his tray.  I have to machine wash them a couple times a week.  As far as the regular bib, I can usually get through a day with one, but if a lot manages to get on it (it's only the neck that gets dirty) I just toss it in the hamper... I have about 20 regular bibs, so I could use a clean one for each feeding... and a lot of times I have to.

  • I keep a bottle of Shout in my kitchen under the sink. I spray the bib with shout and then throw them in the laundry basket in the laundry room. I just throw them in with the laundry then.
