I'm short and fairly petite, and a 6 overwhelms me length-wise. I prefer fives, and am able to eek out FWCC and reinforced back carries as well, plus I find it a much better length if I want to do one-shoulders. I am borrowing a couple 6's though for immediately PP, I'm not sure I'll be able to do that for a month or so.
I really hate the new double hammock that is so popular in my local group/on TBW right now, but that requires a 6 for even the smallest people, so if thats a carry you think you'll use a lot, go for it.
I think the size you need depends more on your clothes size and chest size than height. I wear a 4 and I'm small on top so even though I'm tall, I can do everything with a 5 (including double hammock which takes the most length). I don't mind having a 6 though.
If you aren't sure, it's probably safest to go with a 6; you can always hem it if you find it's a bit too long. Most people also find they need a bit more wrap when learning since you don't know how to tighten to get all the slack out until you practice a bit.
