Loved it the most! I am already saving my pennies (and wishing and hoping for another coupon deal) to go back.
The BF and I sat in a cozy corner inside--I didn't see y'all, Mainer, did you opt for outside?
The three course tasting menu has two options for each course, so we ordered one of each and swapped halfway through.
First course: chipotle lobster bisque with parmesan puff pastry crouton. Our waiter poured it right into the bowl at the table, and if I'd know how delicious it was going to be, I would've asked him to pour it straight down my throat. There was also a green salad with tomatillos and candied almonds. I liked that it had dressing, but the flavor blended so well that it didn't seem like it had dressing. Ya know?
Second course: venison with chipolte Shiner sause and ancho mashed potatoes. Loved the sauce, loved it. I thought the meat was a teeny bit tough, but I am comparing it to the best steak I've ever eaten (Fleming's), which totally melted in my mouth. The other choice was pecan crusted snapper on top of corn bread pudding. OMG. I dreamt about this dish on Saturday night; it was just that delicious! It's a good thing BF started with this one, because I may not have shared. (It was his favorite, too, he's just nicer than me.)
Dessert: chocolate mousse in a wine glass with chocolate sauce on the sides and a scoop of vanilla ice cream topped with warm raspberries and sauce. Both were tasty, neither were remarkable.
I can totally see how a meal there was your birthday present--I'm thinking about asking for the same thing!!
We sat outside, in the back corner. GuavaGal, I saw you walking out, but I didn't want to yell "Hey GuavaGal!!!" across the restaurant
As Guava already stated the food was AWESOME. We both got the bisque and OMG, it was so freaking good (and this is coming from a Mainer). You didn't even need the chunks of lobster because the bisque itself totally captured the flavor of lobster. Loved.It. We also split the crab cake, which I think you said you had before, Boxer. Also fabulous. I got the snapper and MH got the venison. I didn't try the venison because it was too rare for my PG belly, but the snapper was absolutely amazing. It was my favorite part of the meal.
I agree about the desserts - good, but nothing special.
Now I am hoping for another living social deal! Our meal, including a glass of wine, a cup of coffee, tax, and tip, came to $90 - a sweet deal for dinner at Hudson's IMO!
