We space ours about an hour apart in the morning. We just do it so that we can be sure she fills up on breastmilk first, then we let it settle a bit and top her off with solids. In the evening though, she gets her solids dinner at 6 every night -- sometimes its right after nursing, sometimes its almost time for her next nursing. We like to keep the evenings all the same though.. so dinner at 6 then bath and the rest of her nighttime routine.
Is he still hungry after he eats his bottle? We always have done nursing separate from solids because after he has a bottle or nursed he's not hungry for any food for a good hour or two. When he was your DS's age, our schedule went something like this:
6:00am - Wake up, nurse 7:30am - Breakfast 9:00am - Nurse, nap 11:00am - Nurse 12:00pm - Lunch 2:00pm - Nurse, nap 4:00pm - Nurse 5:30pm - Dinner 7:30pm - Nurse, bed
They get a bottle every 4 hours or so. I try to feed them right between 2 of the bottle sessions. No rhyme or reason, but if I try to feed solids too closely after a bottle, they're not very interested and it gets frustrating. And messy.

When we first started solids I would nurse C right before so he didn't get frantic. However, now I just nurse him 4 times per day (when he wakes up, before am nap, before pm nap, and bedtime).
