I posted this on the August Board, but with so many of us in Bham, I thought I'd re-post here....
A lot of people have told us we're crazy for taking so many prenatal classes- DH and I are taking 6 classes from UAB- the theory is 'sure, we would probably figure it out as we go, but why not know a little something before we get there?'. I also love that I won't be "teaching" DH how to be a dad, he gets to walk in the door with confidence that he can change a diaper just as well as I can.
Last night was our first class "The Happiest Baby on the Block" based on the book by the same name. We went over 5 techiniques for calming fussy babies and practiced swaddling (DH is now the Swaddling King BTW). The video of actually seeing the techniques put to the test was Amazing!
I highly recommend the class for anyone that has it available to them (it was a free class). Even if you don't learn anything new, seeing DH get so excited over doing something other than shoppong for LO was priceless.
Re: First Baby Class
cool! i definitely think the more knowledge you get the better off/more confident you will be. so don't listen to those who criticize!
btw, i'm actually reading "the happiest baby on the block" now.
