Babies: 9 - 12 Months

What is a serving of Cheerios for a baby?

DD will eat as many Cheerios as I give her.  While I'm making her food or our food (which is often one and the same these days), I'll dump some CHeerios on her tray and she is thrilled.
How many do you give your LOs at a sitting?  Over the course of the day?

  • We offer maybe 1/8 - 1/4 c?  I'm not good guesstimating portions.  I'd guess he gets half and the dog gets half.  Officially on the box, for children under 4 a serving is 3/4 cup (which seems like a lot for a baby).

  • Usually about a handful. She loves to eat Cheerios! I typically give her some late in the afternoon just because she gets cranky around then. Babies don't really overeat if they're feeding themselves.
  • I've wondered this too. Now that you ask I think they have the child's serving size on the side of the box. Maybe a few less than the child's serving size?

S/O:Is the Puffs serving size for a baby or an adult. I think the serving is something like 30 and I would never give him 30 Puffs. He probably gets 20- 30 Cheerios a day but I think Puffs have more sugar...could be wrong about that though.

  • The serving on the size of the box is 3/4 of a cup for a child under 4.  That seems like a LOT.

That does seem like a lot!

  • 3/4 cup seems like a lot to me too. Anyone at home wanna count how may are in 3/4 cup? I'm curious. LO eats them twice a day. I wonder if that adds up to 3/4 cup.
