Miscarriage/Pregnancy Loss

When did you return to work after a D&C?

Hi ladies

I just had my D&C on Tuesday and am on STD for the week. I feel like I may want to take next week off because my job requires me to be all happy and nice,Im a pharmaceutical sales rep. Im afraid if i go back next week i'll snap at someone if they are rude. What did you all do?

Thanks

Re: When did you return to work after a D&C?

  • I went back the day after my D&C because I couldn't handle being by myself and needed the distraction.  However, I don't have to interact with clients on a daily basis.  Maybe you could try going back for one day next week and see how it goes?

  • I didn't have a D&C but delivered naturally. My Doc will not sign me back to work until 4 weeks. I wish I could go back to work, but I see the point of snapping at a customer.

    Hugs.

  • I've actually changed jobs in the past week. I was suppose to start training this week, but they pushed it back to next week. Guess what my new job is? I'll be taking pictures of newborns. I was very excited about it, but now a little nervous.

  • I had my D&C on a Wednesday and was back at work on Monday. I was physically fine by Friday but needed the weekend for emotional reasons.
  • I took two days off & went back today.  Mentally having the two days off was good for me, but I'm someone that gets depressed if I have "too much" downtime, so I think that just being back for today and tomorrow and then having the weekend will actually be good for me as opposed to a long spell being out.  Not to mention, people tend to inquire more about "how you are" if you're out for longer.  I'd rather deal with as little of that as possible personally.

Everyone is different though.  I've had over three weeks to deal with the emotional side of finding out about my loss before my d&c, so the emotional part wasn't much of a factor in my taking time off.

Do what feels right for you and I'm sorry you're going through this.

  • Sorry about your loss.  When I had my D&E I was out of work for one week total.  I was having other medical issue due to loosing too much blood when I was m/c.  I found it was easy to come back to work for the first two days of the week but as the week went on, I found it to be a little bit more challenging for some reason.  Good luck!
