Crib climbers

Hi mommies,

This morning when I went in to get DD out of bed she was sitting on the railing, half her body out of the crib, about to climb/fall out. What did you do when your lo's learned to climb out of the crib? I am thinking about putting her crib mattress on the floor as a temp. solution. DH is out of town for the next 11-12 days and I am so afraid she is going to fall and break a bone, which would mean I would have to take 2u2 to the ER in the middle of the night bymyself. No thank you!

    I don't have this problem yet, but I already have a plan for when it does.  I plan on taking the metal part that holds the mattress off and laying the matress on the floor, that way she's still contained.  Hopefully there's no gap where she can stick her hands/feet otherwise my boyfriend will have to build a platform so the mattress sets a little higher.  I'll use a step stool to put her in her crib.  I'd like to keep her in her crib until she's at least 2 or 3. She's not ready to be in a regular bed/toddler bed and neither are we.

    i know they sell these tent-like things that go over the crib so that they cant climb out. I'm not sure what it is called, but my sister has one on her crib for her 2 year old.

    My LO has been on a mattress in the floor since about 13 months.  That's when she first started climbing out of her crib.  It's really no big deal.  I have child safety locks on all the dresser drawers and electrical sockets.  And I take all her toys out at night.  I'm waiting to get her a toddler bed cause I'm worried she'll roll off of it at night.  I also kinda figure that there's nothing wrong with her on the floor until she's ready for a real bed.  We can save that money and just get a twin size bed when she gets older.  Either way, the floor is safer than a crib if she's trying to climb out.  She can really get hurt!

    We had to move my daughter into a toddler bed. She doesnt sleep through the night still so when she wakes up she just gets in bed with us.
