Today is CD 7 & I have been doing injections for 5 days now. Had my US this morning showing 4 follicles on the right measuring around 11 & one on the left measuring at 10. The NP said these were good results & I was responding well to the injections. E2 level was 151. I am doing 100iu of the Follistim & have been instructed to keep doing those with another US on Saturday morning.
For those who have been through this, how many good-sized follicles seem to be the norm for injectables? How many can be too many? At what size do they "trigger" them for ovulation? Just curious as to what your experience has been since this is my first round on injectables!
TIA...
Re: CD 7 US on Follistim
It sounds like things are starting to cook in there! I just had my first injectable/IUI. I did 150iu of Gonal F for 5 days and on CD 11 had 5 follicles over 18 and one at 16 with an E2 of 852. Today my RE said that is a better than expected response to my protocol and that an E2 at 500 is what the normal goal is. I have a feeling you'll exceed that mark with your follicles as they mature. I think most REs like to see 2-4 follicles, but it depends on age too. I just noticed that you are in KC too! All of my friends who have done injectables have been triggered with more than that so it's up to the RE, but they've all been in KC. I triggered with the 6 total, but 2 of them are on the side where my tube is blocked. My RE prefers to trigger when the majority reach 18 or above.
I hope you have a great cycle!!
I have triggered with 3 leading and 2-3 secondary on 225 iu Folistim
18mm to trigger, 10-12 days of stims optimum, no more than 13 days. See this thread.
HOM and selective reduction discussion depending on your dx and situation, I'm not sure how many follies are maximum at my clinic, or when they switch to IVF/cancel, it seems that they'll go ahead with most IUIs with your complete understanding of the situation.
Good luck!
