TTC after 35

As if I didn't have enough to worry about

At my last yearly exam I was given paperwork to go have my first over 40 mammogram.  With my first IVF fast approaching I decided to go get a baseline mammogram before starting the hormones, just in case the hormones could cause problems down the road.   Never did I imagine that they would find something suspicious.

I did a spot check mammogram yesterday followed by an ultrasound.  Results were still inconclusive so that want to do a biopsy.  Looks like it's going to take two weeks until they can get me in the schedule.

My IVF consult and shot instructions are tomorrow, followed by and ultrasound and day 21 (or 7 dpo) BW on Friday.  Then I start the injectibles in roughly another 6 days after that.

After months of convincing myself that I would go through with IVF now it may have to be delayed. Which is the last thing I want to see happen since my endo returned so quickly after my first Lap surgery.  I'm just so frustrated and I can't get anyone to return my calls!

Re: As if I didn't have enough to worry about

  • Ugh!  I'm so sorry to read this.

First, inconclusive means just that, and I hope that you are soon given a clean bill of health.

And by soon, I mean before you are scheduled to start IVF. Is there anyway your doctor can put a rush on these results?

    ((((hugs))))

    Sorry you're going through this.

  • I am so sorry that you are having to go through this.  I hope that the inconclusive results turn into 100% no cause for concerns and that you can move forward with your plans.  I just want to wish you the best of luck.
  • So sorry you are going through this.  I know that its scary when you don't know anything for sure and your mind just goes to the worst possible scenario.  But I am sure you know, there are a lot of "suspicious" spots they find in breast tissue that are absolutely nothing.  It was definitely a good idea to get this done now so you can deal with it and when you are deemed healthy you can move on with a clear mind.  Good luck, I hope everything turns out ok.
I give up trying to get a ticker.  I have a DD that is 2.5 years old and is awesome.  Maybe I'll add a quote to distinguish myself.  Hmmm.  How about...

  • Oh, how frustrating. I'm sorry you have to deal with this. I'll keep my fingers crossed that you get (good!) answers soon.

  • Im sorry that you are going through this.  Starting IVF is stressful enough.  I hope that you get some good results soon and are able to continue with your IVF.

  • Thanks for all the well wishes.    I finally heard back from my RE's office and they want me to proceed with getting the breast issues out of the way.    My Gyn was able to push me in with an appointment for tomorrow with the breast surgeon.  They will see me this Thursday.  Otherwise it was going to take me 2-3 weeks to be seen.

Tomorrow is my injection training & IVF consult.  I decided to approach this as full steam ahead and if there is cancer, then we will cancel at the last minute.  What a crazy day!

  • Tripple, sorry you are having another thing to worry about.  Seems like if it's not one thing, it's another!  I have had several biopsies, so if you have any questions or concerns, feel free to ask.

  • I am sorry you are going through this.  I read an article the other day about why they are changing the age for the recomended mamo -- because often there are lumps that end up being biopsied and are nothing.  T & P for you and your family.
  • I hope all is ok with the biopsy.  Glad that you are getting into the dr. sooner rather than later. Good luck with everything.
