So I gave up pumping at work a couple weeks ago - DD still nurses as soon as I get home, before she goes to sleep, usually at least once at night and in the AM before I go to work. On weekends I let her nurse on demand (which means like 2 nursings during the day). Pedi said she was getting enough BM that if she didn't want cow/non-me milk during the day it was okay.
Well lately DD has been sleeping better and sometimes she only gets 2-3 nursing sessions a day. And lately when she nurses she does a lot of tugging and pressing down on my breasts with her hands, almsot as though she is trying to squeeze out milk. Sessions are still as long as before; usually she finishes and is happy but especially at night lately she fusses and wants to go back to the first breast again. My boobs hurt almost as much as they did when we started BFing and I wonder if she is getting enough milk to be healthy.
And we have tried hemp, soy, cow, goat and even freezer stash BM in sippy cups during the day and are lucky to get her to drink 2 oz. all day. She'll drink water until the cows come home but doesn't really like milk. ![]()
Re: BFing a toddler... am I drying up?
Ditto this and Lotte.
Thanks all.
She loves cottage cheese and has that quite often. We have tried the smoothies and sometimes she likes them (gets them maybe once a week into her tummy). We give her cheese and yogurt, and I think her diet is very balanced, I just worry and hate the idea of her possibly ending up weaning.
Don't stress- she might be trying to get more also she might just be exerting her power/playing if you will. I know that @ a certain age my E. sort of figured out the nursing thing and how my boobs worked, etc. and found it fun to "play" with them... sometimes toddlers need to learn nursing manners.
