Success after IF

I should be excited about my first u/s tomorrow. Instead I'm scared

I am really, really scared of my u/s tomorrow showing twins. Between cost of raising 3 kids, the difficult (and high-risk) pregnancy, I am really, really scared. We transferred ONE embie just to minimize our chances of multiples.

I know no matter what happens, DH and I will be OK and we will love all of our children, but I am really, really scared.

The only reason I'm so paranoid all of a sudden, was something my doc said last week when I was so sick. She brought up that I could have such an extreme difference b/w my two pregnancies because I might be having multiples. That paired w/ my quadrupled beta is really making me nervous.

Please talk me off my ledge!

The chances of identical twining are small, right?

  • It's normal to be scared, but I think the chances are small.  My pregnancies were very different and I only had 1 each time.

  • Don't be scared, you probably just have one overachiever in there ;)
  • I don't believe in the betas too much.  It could happen, but be excited you are pg lady!!!  I am hoping there is one in there - if that is what you want.  I get this.
  • Thanx guys! I guess we'll find out tomorrow for sure.
  • I think chances are very small.  I know this is a stupid question, but are they greater if you do IF treatments or would it just be spontaneous if that happened?  Either way ((hugs)).  Good luck!

Christa, identical twins are slightly greater if you have done IF treatment with ICSI and/or Assisted Hatching. I don't know if our FET ended up with AH or not, but all my eggs were ICSI'd. I did a bunch of reading this afternoon and our percentage of having monozygotic (aka identical) twins is 1.36%. I can sleep better on those odds.
