What size sleepsack?

DD no longer wants to be swaddled so I thought I would try a sleep sack. She is 9 weeks old and probably weighs about 11.5 lbs and is maybe 22 inches...are the sleepsacks true to size? According to their website it says I should buy newborn, but I don't know how long she'll be in that and I'm wondering if the small will be too big.

Re: What size sleepsack?

  • My LO is 12.5 lbs and wearing a sleep sack for uo to 15 lbs.  It is really big, and he will be able to wear it well past 15 lbs.  It is a Snugaby.

  • My DS is 2 1/2 weeks and we put him in a sleep sack last night for the 1st time. It's a small and DS weighs 8.3lbs and is 20 1/2 in. It is quite big on him, but he did just fine.
  • my guy is 9 weeks, 13 lb and he is still in the NB size sleep sack. It is very roomy, and you don't ever want a sleep sack to be too big. IT needs to be snug.
  • First, I highly recommend the Halo sleepsack - great product!  We used them for a long time with my DS#1, and plan to with DS#2 as well.  Anyhow, currently, my 5 week old DS sleeps in a Halo swaddle size newborn.  He's 12 lbs and 22.5" long.  According to Halo's sizing chart, for weight he should be a small but for length still a newborn.  I think it's more relevant to go with the length, and if you are just about to buy one now, don't bother with a newborn size, go straight to a small.  My DS at 22.5" is practically too long for the newborn size and we're thinking of switching him soon.  I don't think the small will be too big.
