What's your workout routine?

And do you mind critiquing mine? I'm always looking for new ideas/routines. I'm working out 5-6 days per week and occasionally get bored with my routine.

Right now I start with 20 minutes on the elliptical. I start with a level 4 resistance and do bursts of speed where I up the resistance to anywhere between 10-15.

I then do my weightlifting/ stretching for 20 minutes. I do arms one day, legs one day and abs/core one day. On the other days, I do 20 minutes of yoga and stretches.

I then get on either the treadmill or stationary bike for 15-20 minutes.

I'm thinking about substituting some of my cardio with a spin class or yoga class.

Thanks for reading this far! I have to say that working out has done fabulous things for me! I started 2 months ago, and so far I've lost 11 pounds total and six inches off my waist. I'm down to a size six from a ten. I need to keep my motivation up, so I would love new ideas from you ladies!

Re: What's your workout routine?

  • I do mostly classes and group training now. On Mondays I do a class called Burn - on the treadmill with interval sprints alternating with some strengh training (This class is by far the most effective for me for stamina as well as weight loss. It is brutal, though!). Wednesdays I do a rebound class (on a mini trampoline) followed by body sculpting class. Thursdays I do a full body resistance class (using machines kind of like pilates) and then another day I usually do spinning or just do the treadmill again.

I find classes make it a lot more fun for me. Rebounding class is awesome, I love Bosu Ball classes, Smart Bells classes, things like that. I am going to try Zumba next week since people keep talking about it.  They just started a hula hooping class at my gym, too, LOL. I may have to try that.

Have you ever tried a regular pilates class? My gym doesn't have pilates towers (although I really, really want to try a class with a tower). I'm thinking of trying a regular pilates class tomorrow. I just looked at the schedule and saw a belly dance fitness class. I have to do that! It sounds like so much fun.

    Thanks for the advice!

  • I don't do pilates just because my gym has it at times I can't make it. My friends that do it all look amazing, so I wish I could do it!
