I need to go find some asap and have done zero research into them. I know. I know. I really should have been prepared for this, but I guess I was just in denial. I need all kinds. Some smallish one for hallways & stairs and biggish ones for corralling the boys into one area of our very open living room/dining/kitchen area.
Thank you!
Re: Talk to me about your baby gate
I'm glad you posted. I was going to specifically ask about yours.
For our very large opening we used this gate and added an extension. We needed a gate to fit ~90" and there are not many options available for this. This gate has worked - it was the correct size, it is sturdy, etc. The things I dislike about it is that you have to install it into the wall (my DH used anchor screws to get it in really tight). I also don't like how the handle isn't really easy to open and close. But those are minor things, IMO, because it was hard to find a gate to fit the large opening we had.
We also have a gate very similar to this gate (I think they discontinued the exact model we have - but the features of this look exactly like the one we have at home). I LOVE this gate. It opens really easily (you just push down with your foot - which is great when your hands are full!
It is a pressure mounted gate so no holes needed to be put in the walls at all. I can't say enough great things about it.
We have this for the top of the stairs and it works great. Though we've got two solid walls to mount it on, so that may make a difference.
We uses pieces of this downstairs to keep him out of certain areas (mainly the short bit of hallway where the stairs and the front door are). I like it because when he was little we could put them all together and make a playpen, but now that he's bigger I can take each piece and create whatever barrier I need.
We have a couple of these and like them. They're adjustable, so they fit a couple different size openings in our house.

MrsChristmas has one of these at the top of her stairs - it's awesome!!! I wish they made ones that expanded wider - it would have been the ideal solution for our playroom.
For the bottom of the stairs we have this: https://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3618750
For the top of the stairs we have this: https://www.babyearth.com/kidco-angle-mount-safeway-gate.html
We had a really hard time finding gates to fit our stairwell, because the difference between the space between the bottom molding and the space between the top railings was pretty large. We ended up having to rig up some wood to make it work. I hope yours is easier to figure out! If you run into trouble let me know and I can PIP what we finally did to make these gates work for our stairs
ETA: Oh, and as far as corralling I really like our superyard gate. Seems like you can always find those on craigslist and they're very versatile. Right now we have that plus an extension surrounding our entertainment center along with Charlie's swing. If you just need something to block off one doorway I highly recommend the wood cheapie you can get at Target - I think it's like $10, it's pressure mounted and it works great!
