Let the jitterbug baby watch begin

Good lawd, my mom called 9 times today and because I was in training for 2 hours she couldn't get ahold of me, left me 5 voicemails.  I think she was just worried because I've been sick w/ a cold.

Fast forward to this afternoon...Had OB appt and I've gotten 4 calls since I got out.  So here's the update:

2cm dialated.  Mentioned nothing about being effaced.  I dont even know how all that works but for almost being 36 weeks I thought that was pretty good considering its my first.  At least I know why my crotch has been killing me for the past 6 weeks or so.  I'm scheduled for non stress tests every week due to my GD diagnosis.

Guess I better start packing that hopsital bag my DH refers to everyday!

  • good luck! go get your toes done!
  • good luck but don't think you'll go any day now. It's possible to walk around for weeks 3-4cm dilated. But definitely pack the hospital bag and don't forget the camera and extra batteries and memory card(s)!

    keep us posted!

Ha! I had the same problem. It SUCKED. Downward dog (the yoga pose) helped a lot. Good luck! You're in the home stretch now.

  • How exciting!  Best of luck. At 36 weeks I was 1 cm dilated and had my baby at 39 weeks to give some persepective.

  • Very exciting!!  Let the countdown begin!
Wife, Musician, Fed, WW-er, and Mom of three little kids - not necessarily in that order.
  • Well, I was 2 cm dilated forever early on, so much so that they thought I wouldn't make it to my 40 weeks.  Well, Allie had other plans for us and she was induced 4 days after her due date.  I stayed at 2 cm until they started pumping me with pitocin.  Hope that Jitterbug baby is well on their way!
  • Yay for progress, but people can be annoying about it.

I was annoyed at having weekly non-stress tests (I think I had them the last 5 or 6 weeks, since DD came so late), but in retrospect it was nice to have a small chunk of time to myself to read or just stare off into space :)  Hearing the heartbeat is certainly calming.  I hope you find a way to enjoy it.

I went into labor literally as soon as our "to do" list was done Smile But yes, you can be partially dilated forever, you can even lose your mucus plug and get a new one in the weeks before.  (this is why my midwives don't even bother checking since it doesn't give any useful information and can cause problems)
