We have a 7 month old, and will be flying Southwest this weekend for the first time with him. Would you recommend bringing your travel system? We have a Chicco Trevi and the Keyfit 30 car seat. We have to bring the car seat, but my husband thinks we should bring the snap n go (which I haven't used in months) rather than the Trevi due to the size of the stroller. Any recommendations? Should we just get a cheap umbrella stroller and not have anything to snap the carseat into when we are walking through the airport? (our friends will have a base for us for the car when we arrive).
He is 18 lbs and over 28 inches long so I feel like the snap n go is just too flimsy for him now. Thank you for your thoughts!!
Re: Travel system when flying...
Sounds like the snap n go would be easier. We traveled with the whole Chicco travel system, I bought a "special" bag for the stroller then one for a car seat. We put the carrier and some other items in the car seat bag and checked that as luggage. Then we used the stroller for in the airport and when we got to the gate, zipped it up in a bag and checked it at the gate.
Just FYI....I just found out, probably 2 months after ds outgrew his carrier that you can actually use that carrier without a base! It can be secured by a seat belt!
I'm going to go a different route and say no stroller at all. Do you need it where you're going, or is there one you can borrow if you do?
I carry Tracey in a carrier (moby when she was smaller, the beco now) and just carried the infant seat. I bought a drawstring laundry bag from Target, picked up one of the plastic bags at check-in and gate checked it like that. I've managed that way even without rrr.
We just got back with our 7 month old and flew. We rented a SUV and rented a carseat that was about $10 per day so we would not have to drag ours along.
We did buy a cheapie $20 umbrella stroller when we went sightseeing and then left it behind for one of a family member to use.
