GD and Bed Rest

Is anyone on bed rest and have GD?

I just got back from my doctor and she put me on bed rest, to her that means I need to be laying on my side 12 hours a day and to have no stress (so she signed me out of work).  She feels that is the only option to keep my amniotic fluid at 5.5 centimeters (which in her opinion is too low).

She did say that she would typically induce at 39 weeks for any patient who is on insulin unless Milo decides to come early on his own.  So I have about 4 weeks to go.

I have my first NST on Monday, going forward I'll end up having 2 NST, OB and ultrasound appt each week until delivery.  All of which is a bit stressful to say the least.

I am so thankful for this board!   I'll be reading what you ladies have done to occupy yourself.  I can't even imagine just watching TV for the next month Sad

Re: GD and Bed Rest

  • I am on light duty because of spontaneous preterm premature rupture with DS.  It is hard to take it easy with a toddler, but I am glad I have not been grounded to the couch. My OB also told me he would not let me go part 38-39 weeks now that I am on insulin.   I hope the next few weeks go quick for you.

  • I've been on mod BR for 21wks now.  But I don't have GD.  I can't imagine...  Know that you can get lots of support with the bedrest girls!  We are here for the bad days...remember that you can always come and vent and we NEVER flame or judge.

Try and mix it up with reading, computer time, ect...  And accept all the help you can from family and friends, as hard as it may be!!

Wow, I can't imagine how you could take it easy with a toddler that must be difficult at times.

Thanks so much for your kind words and support, I truly appreciate it.

  • I have GD and am on light bedrest.  I was signed out of work due to stress and having contractions that required me to go to L&D.  I only have a few more weeks as well because my OB said they won't let me go past 37 weeks.  PM me if you need someone to talk to on those borning days.  I just bought the Sookie Stackhouse 8 book series so I hope that keeps me busy for while.  I mostly am on the computer or watching tv.  Netflix is also a great option.  GL.
