What does baby in your ribs feel like?

I don't know if this is LO getting up in my ribs, or something else.  I'm getting a pain in my right side, like right under my bra underwire.  But when I move my bra it doesn't make a difference.  The pain kinda goes over to the side of my chest, but it doesn't kill.  It just kinda hurts and is uncomfortable.  Then it goes away after a little while.....but will eventually come back.

So does this sound like baby is creeping up?

  • My baby does that all the time and I never know quite how to describe it. She seems to do it at night and when I get stressed out....

  • Well now he is so big you can see and feel a hard bump when he wedges up there. Before though it felt like a pain that was achy almost. I would definitely suggest not wearing an under wire anymore though! Your ribs are expanding and an under wire is just not gonna be comfortable regardless if LO is up there or not. Try doing pelvic thrusts daily (40) that will help keep LO down and sitting on a yoga ball also.

  • For me it feels sort of like when someone is trying to tickle your knee by squeezing on both sides just above your knee.  It's sort of a deep pressure point tickle but if it happens for too long my ribs get sore.  It really is difficult to describe.

  • For me there was no question what it was the first time I felt it.  The baby's foot was a visible lump under my skin right by my ribs and I could feel it moving around.  However, I'm sure it's not the same for everyone, so it's possible you are feeling the baby.  It could also be your rib cage expanding.
It took 3 1/2 long years, but we finally got our little miracle!

  • This is my first baby so Im not posative about this but here you go... I have been having a pulled muscle almost feeling right under my bra for a couple of weeks now that comes and goes. I think it is because somehow all of my pre baby belly fat ended up migrating there :(  But the last few days I have felt LO up under my ribs and its a different feeling.  A little uncomfortable but  feels similar to his BIG movements that are lower in my tummy. And also are not up as high as right under my bra, probably 3-4 inches lower than that.
  • I have been able to feel my little guy kick my ribs for a couple of weeks now and there is no mistaking it... it just feels like a kick to the ribs.   I have horrible achy pain in that same area that comes and goes and my doctor told me it was my gallbladder.  She told me to really watch what I eat and that it should relieve the pain.  Nothing fried, too fatty, etc.  It has helped.  It hasn't gone away but has helped.  She said most of the time this goes back to normal after the baby is born, but having your gallbladder removed about a month after pregnancy is the most common post-birth surgery.
  • Thanks ladies.  I don't think it's LO, it's probably just my rib cage expanding.  Oh well.  I guess I should be thankful because I heard it can hurt to have LO in your ribs.  Thanks for all the feedback Big Smile

  • I've been feeling this for a couple weeks now and my doctor has me getting my blood checked again for all sorts of things (liver, gallbladder, etc.)  although she said its most likely just that muscle pulling/expanding.
