He actually took a decent sized drink, this morning, with breakfast! WOO-HOO! As you know, that's a big step for him. I also prepared his evening bottle with 1/2 whole milk and half formula, last night. He did fine with it - drank it all up without complaining a bit. I'm hoping to try 75/25 mixture, tonight, and 100% milk, tomorrow night. Our *goal* is to be completely done with bottles by the end of the week (we're down to just the evening bottle, now). We offer him a sippy cup of water and milk with each meal; but I'm thinking we should just offer milk for awhile and see if he drinks more that way. I'm just concerned that he won't be getting enough liquid, overall, if we only offer milk and he doesn't drink much.
How is Katie doing? What do you guys offer...and how frequently...and how much?
We offer her milk at meals and snack, but so far the most she's drank out of a cup has been 2 oz with dinner the other night (she also ate an entire piece of pizza so I'm guessing she was pretty hungry). So, she's still getting a few bottles a day (of whole milk). I'm tempted to just go cold turkey on the bottles and only offer her cups, but I want her to be more consistent about drinking milk from the cup first.
I think I'll tell daycare to stop heating her bottles unless she outright refuses to drink it cold - I think part of it is a temperature issue.
As far as the amount, she usually drinks 18-20 oz of milk a day, has a yogurt at breakfast, and (briefly) nurses in the morning. Everything I've read says 2-3 cups of milk a day or the equivalent in other dairy products. It sure does seem like a lot of milk - I certainly don't drink that much!

Yeah, I keep waffling about hanging on to the bottles. I KNOW he'll drink it that way; but I'm afraid of the slippery slope. Why can't they just come with instruction manuals?
That does seem like a lot of milk! He eats at least one serving of cheese and a serving of yogurt, each day. I hope he'll be getting enough. I can't wait to speak to our pediatrician about this.
