Breakfast number really low?

I just did my 2 hour check after breakfast, and my number was 56.  Ummm, where the heck did that come from?  Does that seem way too low?  I had a good-sized bowl of Corn Flakes, milk, and an egg.  It's totally different from what I normally eat, but I wanted to try to switch it up.  Should I be concerned?  My post-breakfast number is usually in the upper 70s.

Re: Breakfast number really low?

  • From my experience that's really low.  I've heard to drink a glass of milk and retest in 15 minutes and if it's not up to have a sweet snack.

I normally do this if my sugar is anything below 70.

  • ditto the pp advice but also

::JEALOUS::  If I look at cereal my sugars go haywire LOL>

  • I agree with PPas far as how to correct lows. I correct for anything below 70, too.  I am a type 1 diabetic, but for some reason cornflakes really drop me, too. What is your normal carb allowance for breakfast? Cornflakes and milk sound pretty low (then again, I have a higher allowance than most people- 60g per meal- so cornflakes and milk alone isnt enough for me. I have to add a fruit for the extra carbs). Maybe add some strawberries or a banana? I know some people say not to eat fruit in the morning but I never have any issues with it...
