Infertility

Cost of IVF?

The urologist has told us that we will definitely have to do IVF, but we didn't start talking about price cause DH still has to have a biopsy done.  How much does IVF typically cost?  Did you have the option to make payments? Sorry if these are stupid questions but I really have no idea. I do know that our insurance doesn't cover any of it :(

Re: Cost of IVF?

  • It depends on the office and the costs of the specific medications you are using. I've seen ladies on this board spending anywhere from $10k - $20k OOP for everything.

  • My clinic charges $10,500 if you are OOP plus drug costs which can run between $3,000 and $5,000, every clinic has a different price. I cant imagine you can do payments unless you get a loan. Maybe your clinic can steer you in the right direction for this. GL

  • Our cost about $20,000 with the meds.  We had to pay all of it up front when we started.  So now we are making payments to our credit card company and paying a ton if interest...

Sorry you're having to deal with this.

  • I figured every clinic is different, but I just wanted to get an idea.  Once the biopsy is done, I will met with my RE and discuss our options and price. I was just thinking about it know and thought I would ask. Thank you so much for the info :)

  • Our RE quoted us at $11,000 with $6,500 going toward the IVF procedures and the rest going towards meds. You may want to check with your insurance to see if they at least offer specialty drug coverage for some of the IVF meds. I'm lucky enough to work for a company who does. A drug that should have cost me $2,000 only cost $250 with my company's coverage. It's def. something worth looking into. Good luck!

  • We are OOP too and signed up for a two-cycle plan with our RE.  It cost about $14,500 and included two fresh cycles and unlimited FETs.  It did not include anesthesia ($450) for ER or meds, which were in the neighborhood of $2-3k for us. We had to pay it up front before the first fresh cycle started.  I believe individual fresh cycles are about $9500 and FETs are about $4100 at my clinic.

    HTH!

  • Someone posted a similar question the other day and I thought you might like to see the answers.  Here the link: https://community.thenest.com/cs/ks/forums/thread/32052597.aspx

As for payments, I'm not sure on that one, but hopefully some of the others will be able to answer.

  • One cycle at my clinic is $9,900 and if you do IVF with ICSI it is $10,900. Meds are extra usually anywhere between 3-5k. My clinic does offer shared risk and advantage programs (you can pay  $17,000 for IVF with ICSI-one cycle but then if it fails you get another within 6 months so you save a little but lose some if it does work) for those who qualify. All money is due up fron-no payment plans. Im so sorry you ahve to do this!! GL! OOP SUCKS!

  • I don't know about the total cost but I wanted to let you know that we just asked the urologist how much it would be for his part of the ICSI for our future IVF and he said that just his part (without meds or anything related to me) would be about $1000. We are 100% OOP so I feel your pain. It is even worse when DH's urologist is in MA and MA insurance (from what I've heard) tends to cover IVF treatments (I might be wrong) but it feels like a tease since we live right next door in NH. GOOD LUCK!
